Friday Rather breezy and very cold across the United Kingdom today. Scattered showers will affect North Sea coasts this morning, with a few snow showers possible across the Yorkshire Moors. The bulk of the country though looks dry and mostly sunny with patchy frost. In the afternoon there remains the chance of a few showers around the eastern coast of England, otherwise it stays settled and dry with lots of crisp, wintry sunshine on offer. Temperatures below normal in the north with highs of 2 to 5Cm but nearer 5 to 7C in the south.
It becomes windy through the evening and night as a belt of rain spreads into Northern Ireland and Scotland. This will be preceded by snow over the hills of northern Scotland for a time. With clear skies and light winds, England and Wales turns very cold with a frost developing in the evening and this becomes widespreads and hard overnight. Exprect lows of –2 to –4C quite widely, but temperatures increasing across Northern Ireland and Scotland during the night with southerly gales developing. |
