What is the Weather School? Is it a real building?
No (not at the moment anyway!) The term is a descriptive word for our lectures, usually held in Wombourne, Staffordshire. You'll enjoy friendly, experienced instruction, an abundance of coffee, snacks and lunch.

Why the need for a Weather School?
Weather is a vital part of your hobby, but there's almost no place to learn the ropes, part from ground school where the instructor is usually not a meteorologist. There's almost no way to start as a beginner, or gain extra knowledge.

Do I have to participate in class?
Our course format is non-competitive and voluntary. There will be no "team" projects, and you are welcome to either actively participate or snooze as you like; it's up to you. Mobile phones must be switched off!

· What visual materials does the Weather Forecasting School use?
We typically use a combination of handouts and OHP projector.

· I know a lot about weather -- can I still get anything out of this? Absolutely; there's always things you may pick up on. The class will also give you a chance to network with others with the same hobby, and you can learn so much from other peoples experiences.

· Do I need to be an expert to understand the content of the class? Not at all. Most classes start with elementary-level knowledge and build on that. Some of our advanced classes mention prerequisites which will be necessary for you to understand the material.

· Who teaches the class?
Simon Keeling is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and self confessed weather anorak! Academic qualifications include an MSc in Applied Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Birmingham. He is Managing Director of Weatherweb.net and Weather Consultancy Services and is a "bench forecaster". He has been a national TV Weatherman and assisted in developing the UK's first 24 hour weather channel. He is now a weather presenter on BBC Midlands Today. His strength is putting the information across in an informative, non-scientific way and is a form believer in making the weather accessible to all.

· How do I register? What's the cost? To register call 08700 738 100 or email Simon as above. Costs vary depending on the course you are taking. See above.

· How do I pay? We accept cheques made payable to "Simon Keeling". You cannot pay on the day of the class, as your reservation only occurs once we receive payment, and on the day of the class we are usually booked up.

· What is the policy on refunds? Your payment is refundable ONLY if we get a replacement student to take your place, or if an urgent situation occurs where we have to cancel a class. This means if you cancel at the last minute, you may be liable for the full amount.

· What if all the class dates are booked up? Keep checking back. We will try to open up additional dates as time permits.

· Do I need to bring anything with me? A notebook, pcoloured pencils and pen will be very useful for you to take down impoprtant notes and snippets.

· Can I videotape the class? Because of the proprietary format of the class we cannot permit camcorders or audio recordings to be used.

By registering in a Weather School course, you agree to abide by the terms of this agreement.

1. CLASS FEES. All fees must be paid in advance in order to secure your enrolment.

2. REFUNDS. Once you are enrolled, your reservation is not refundable unless another student takes your place. This means the earlier you cancel, the more likely you'll get a refund. In the event of a class cancellation, all students will receive a 100% refund.

3. CLASS CANCELLATION. A class may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, which may include weather, illness, and transportation strike or under staffing. In all instances our maximum liability to you is limited to your purchase price. Under no circumstances are we liable for refunds on travel, lodging, or other damages.

4. WARRANTY. We make no warranty of any kind relating to the information presented at the Weather School or on this web site. Under no circumstances shall we be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or damages for loss of income, profits, revenue, data or use incurred by you or any third party arising from information obtained at the Weather School or on this web site. While we take every reasonable care to present accurate information, such information from time to time may be out of date, may include omissions, inaccuracies or other errors, or may be subject to events beyond our control.

5. COPYRIGHT. Information presented at the Weather School is proprietary and is subject to copyright restrictions. Video or audio recordings of the course are not permitted. You may not reproduce or distribute any information from the Weather School in whole or in part without our prior written permission.
